About SDA
The Student Dietetic Association (SDA) is a volunteer student organization primarily intended for nutrition science students, but is open to any major. SDA meets once a month and holds an annual holiday party during the fall semester and a Recognition Ceremony during the spring semester to acknowledge its members’ service.
SDA provides its members with guest speakers who can help with various academic and professional development issues such as time management, academic tutoring, and preparation for the GRE (Graduate Record Exam).
SDA also assists students in preparing for the dietetic internship application and networking with nutrition professionals within the community. The meetings allow for the members to meet other nutrition majors and get involved in nutrition outreach activities.
SDA is involved in many campus activities such as: Get-A-Clue, Barefoot on the Mall, Haunted Health, and National Nutrition Month. Community activities are encouraged and include cooking and preparing meals for the residents of The Ronald McDonald House and Hope Lodge in Greenville, NC.
SDA encourages students to get involved in professional organizations by supporting attendance at the annual NC Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics meeting, where members can network with dietitians throughout North Carolina as well as hear presentations on up-to-date nutrition topics.
SDA is annually recognized by Campus Wellness as one of the top student volunteer organizations on campus!!!
